Born in Salerno on 18 December 1975, I graduated in law, with a final thesis on the right to information within the radio and television broadcasting system. I also worked as a TV presenter.
In 2004 I joined Forza Italia Party and in 2006 I was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies, Campania 2 constituency. From May 2008 to November 2011 I served as Minister for Equal Opportunities under Berlusconi’s fourth Government. In 2010 I was appointed to Campania’s Regional Council, and from June 2016 to November 2020 I served as Municipal Councillor in Naples.
During the eighteenth legislature, I was appointed Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies, a post I held till I was sworn in as Minister for Southern Italy and Territorial Cohesion on 13 February 2021, under the Draghi Government.
I have always been committed to promoting human rights and notably women's rights. Within my political and institutional activities, I have always ensured special attention to Southern Italy and its great potential, convinced that succeeding in fully expressing such potential would both improve the living conditions of southern citizens and relaunch the whole Country.
